A Sower or an Eater?

“For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.”
2 Corinthians 9:10 (NLT)

A Sower is a person who puts seed in the ground to grow. An eater is one who consumes the harvest. Are you a Sower or an eater? Do you want God to provide you with resources to give away or to put in your pocket? What is your capacity? Do you have capacity for seed or food? Do you have a farm or a plate? Compare the size of your pocket vs the size of other people’s needs.

“You know that these hands of mine have worked to supply my own needs and even the needs of those who were with me. And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:34-35 (NLT)

This past week at work, the Holy Spirit taught me the Sower and eater concept in a way I had never seen before. He showed me the difference between the capacity of a Sower and that of the eater. Those who pray for their needs alone, and those who pray for that God will provide for the needs of others through them. The Holy Spirit said that God gives seed to the Sower and bread to the eater. How large is a Sower’s capacity? Large farms, thousands of acres of land. A Sower has the potential of having great capacity. The eater on the other hand has the minimal capacity. They are limited to the size of their stomachs, or their plate. They consume and it goes to waste afterwards with no eternal reward, while the Sower gives to the needy and reaps a great harvest with eternal reward.

No one who sows suffers hunger, but eaters may go hungry. My prayer, knowing that God owns 100% of everything including me, is that He will create in me His heart, the heart of a Sower. That I may give to all who are in need and spread His love all over the world. He has granted me this request by giving me a love giving ministry, the (HGIM) Holy Ghost Impartation Ministries (hgimlove.com). At HGIM, we all work in love, as Sowers. We bring all our gifts freely to our King Jesus, without naming a price or expecting anything in return. Jesus paid it all. He never asked us to chip in towards the costly gift of His love unto death on the cross. He took the pain, He suffered shame, He became the seed that the Father Sowed, and we are the product, many sons and daughters, if we receive this precious seed, Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:9-11 9 (NIV) “But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.”

The more we sow, the more seed we are entrusted with. The Holy Spirit puts in the Sowers the heart of love that gives like our heavenly Father. Yahweh is the greatest Sower. May we think Kingdom, not individual. May we invest in eternity, by loving everyone just as Christ loves us. May we always abound in good works just as Christ did. May we represent the Father, through the Son, by the power of the Holy Spirit in love and giving in Jesus’s name to the glory and honor of His name. Amen.
