THIS is not THAT!
Familiarity breeds contempt. Many times, people treat uncommon things in a common way. They do this when the uncommon thing or a person is readily available. When they lose the person or the thing, then they realize that they had an uncommon treasure.
We see this in the way people treated Christ when He lived on earth. There were many prophets who came before Christ, they were despised and held in a common way. When Christ came to earth, many rejected Him.
“But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12KJV. ‘
The Son of God who came to seek and save the lost was a carpenter, but not an ordinary carpenter. He was the Son of man, not just an ordinary son, His Father was God. He is the head of the church, yet he made himself lower than all and died for his church. He is the lion, and the lamb, not just any lamb, but the only lamb of God. When man in the Old Testament would choose a lamb among his many lambs for the sacrifice, but God had only one lamb to choose from. He took his only begotten Son as the lamb and offered Him up once and for all.
It is a sad thing to see many people lose a person or a thing because they do not treasure and or respect them. When God gives a gift, all must know that “This is NOT That”.
You may have had something or someone similar in the past, but it is not that. God only gives PERFECT GIFTS, man gives what they can afford or what’s within their reach. God gives what one needs with their destiny in mind, man gives what one needs without thought of destiny or created purpose. God doesn’t give what we approve, He gives what He approves, whether we like the gift or not, we must trust Him enough. God created everyone, this qualifies him to be the perfect gift giver.
“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” James 1:17 NLT
There is a great difference between a gift from God and a gift from man. What man gifts you can be replaced by another man, but what God gifts you can never be replaced by man only God.
This, (what God gives you), is not That, (what man gives you or what you acquire for yourself).
Good stewardship keeps and multiplies what God gives you, bad stewardship makes you lose all that God gave you to someone else who is a better steward.
Because…
“This is NOT That”
