Discipleship, friendship, intimacy
John 13:34-35 (NKJV)
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 8:31 (NKJV)
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.”
Christ’s disciples love one another, and God’s word shapes their lifestyle. They act in accordance with Christ’s commands, and they do whatever Christ asks them to do. Jesus is looking for brides who are also his friends. Those who are willing to get deeply intimate with him. To these, he reveals all that he hears from the Father.
John 15:14-15 (NKJV)
“You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”
How beautiful it is to receive an on-the-fly download of what the Father is thinking and saying through his beloved Son and our bridegroom, Jesus Christ.
Can you picture knowing what heaven is saying and doing in the now? That’s the kind of life I want and need to have.
Lord, may I hunger and thirst after you greatly and constantly. May I mature into complete intimacy with Christ. May I know You in the fullness of who You are, and may I hear from You in the NOW!
Holy Spirit, my helper, guide, and friend, kindly work in me to make this a reality in Jesus’ name. Amen!
In Christ’s love
