Do your part & Trust God to always do His part

“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)

When my children were growing up, I read the scripture which God gave Moses in Deuteronomy 6:6-7.

I studied God’s word diligently and hid it in my heart, which transformed my mind and soul. I then taught it to my children when we were on the road, when we walked, and when we sat at home. We read God’s word. I told them bible stories, and we memorized scripture. We prayed and read scripture on the way to school. We had bible study every evening and discussed scripture. Growing up, my mother did the same with us. We sang on the way to school, we prayed when we got to school, and we held bible study every evening at home to date. My grandma always has worship service and bible study at her house every evening with all living in her household, and whenever she has guests over.

Deut. 6:6-7 (AMP) “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be [written] on your heart and mind. You shall teach them diligently to your children [impressing God’s precepts on their minds and penetrating their hearts with His truths] and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up.”

My grandparents passed God’s word on to my parents, who in turn passed it on to my siblings and I passed it on to my children. Generations to come will have an example to follow because of obedient grandparents. Are we confident that our children will be equipped to follow God when they grow because we are teaching them in the way they should go? Remember the promise, even if they stray trying to find their way, like the prodigal son, they will always be in God’s care. A prodigal child who has God’s word in them will never depart even though they stray. Departing means they leave the ways of God for good and never return, but straying means they are on the road but get off-road, which is easier to get back on track. Trust that God will always bring them back home. He promises that if we teach them His ways, when they grow/mature out of their own experiences, they will never depart from the way of truth. May we trust God to raise our children with the seed we have planted in them. The seed of God in them never dies, nor can it be destroyed.

A seed in the soil can grow even after a drought if well-watered. But if the God seed is not planted in the first place, there is no hope for growth or life. May God help us to plant His seed in the children He has entrusted us with. Teaching them His ways, showing them His paths and truth.

Much love,
