I stand for you, or you stand for yourself
What shall it be?
The Father said to me the other day,
“Only one of us shall stand and speak. If you stand, I will sit down. If you sit, I will stand up for you.”
I responded, “I am seated Daddy, that you may stand for me.”
Many are the times sons of God, led by the Holy Spirit face various tribulation. They suffer for doing a good thing for Christ. Mary, Lazarus’s sister sat at Jesus’s feet, hungry and thirsty for spiritual revelation of the Word, -Jesus Christ-. Her sister Martha was busy preparing a meal for Jesus as she thought of the needs of the flesh. Jesus did not desire physical food more than feeding the spiritually hungry. He even told His disciples at one point when they brought Him food and He said He wasn’t hungry in John 4:34. that His food was to do the will of the Father who sent Him and to finish His work.
Christ is interested in our spiritual growth and that is why He said in Matthew 4:4 that man shall not live by bread alone, but man shall live by EVERY WORD that comes from the mouth of God. How do you do this if you have no spiritual ears? How do you hear if you are not listening? How do you listen if you are not seeking God? Or sitting at Christ’s feet? Asking Him questions and awaiting responses? How do you hear if the loudest voice in your life is your flesh? God is Spirit, and those who fellowship and worship Him must do it in Spirit and truth. Not just in spirit, but in the right way… this is achieved only by the Holy Spirit of God. He is the Spirit of truth.
When people judge you from their flesh, they think evil of you from their character, they think you are like them most of the time, or they judge you from their past experiences, or from the filth in their hearts. They may judge you from their insecurities, their insufficiencies, or their weaknesses. When this happens and you are accused falsely, if you are doing a good work for Jesus, do not get distracted. Keep focused, guard your heart, love, forgive, and pray for them for they do not know what they are doing. Let Christ answer them for you.
Martha got so angry at Mary for not helping her despite her asking for Mary’s help, that she had to involve Christ. She interrupted their fellowship and worship, thinking that she was right in her prayer to Jesus to get her sister Mary to help her. Some prayers that we pray out of the frustration of the flesh will not produce the desired result. Instead, Christ defended Mary and rebuked Martha. Be careful not to pray out of your own understanding. Pray out of revelation from the Holy Spirit. Mary never paid attention to her accusers; she allowed Christ to stand up for her. What looks wrong in another person’s eyes, might be righteous in God’s eyes. Be careful with your judgement and accusation of those who operate in the spirit, God will answer you in their defense.
Silence is an act of wisdom when one is accused falsely for doing a good work for the King.
Fast forward, Mary, out of the revelation of who Christ her King was, she brought the most expensive perfume with her to anoint Jesus. With the revelation that Christ would resurrect on the third day, and no one was going to be able to anoint Him, she found her role in the great story of redemption. In Matthew 26:6-13, when she broke the jar of perfume and poured it all, 100%, on Jesus’s feet, it got the enemy’s attention. Judas, operating from the flesh, attacked Mary for her extravagant worship of Jesus. Judas rebuked her harshly for wasting the extremely expensive perfume on Jesus instead of selling it and giving the money to the poor.
Isn’t it amazing how our accusers can justify their attacks on us by trying to seem holy or more righteous until Christ exposes their folly. Mary believed in Christ’s resurrection and was preaching it out loud with her actions. The enemy saw her ridiculing him with her faith in Christ’s victory over death and the revelation of His worth which no one else understood. Mary in brokenness and humility poured out her most extravagant worship, at the lowest place, the feet of Christ, the creator of Heaven and earth. Mary saw her resurrected savior in the spirit and found her place in Him.
Mary, once again, refused to be intimidated by her accusers and concentrated on her worship. She operated from the highest level of revelation; the Holy Spirit given revelation. She refused to go low in the flesh where they others were addressing her from. They had head-knowledge, but she operated out of revelation knowledge.
Again, the second time, Jesus responded to Judas, her accuser on her behalf. He said in
Matthew 26:10-13 “But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me. For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always. For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial. Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
Mary never paid attention to her accusers or took any offense. She let God stand up for her. To the fleshy people, she was defiant, not following ‘protocol’, she was unruly, she was rude for not responding as they wanted her to. To God, Mary was wise, full of revelation knowledge, and was doing a good thing for Christ. She was ridiculed and attacked publicly for understanding and fulfilling her God-given assignment. In turn, Christ defended and blessed her publicly. Her name was blessed, and her story carried on to generations. We are still speaking of her as Christ said we would, today.
God’s vindication is greater than man’s accusation. Let God fight for you, when men falsely accuse you, they just reveal what is in their hearts.
1 Peter 4:14 Says, “If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part, He is glorified.”
Again, do not be offended, let go, and let God deal with them (Luke 17:1-2).
Do not fight them, speak your truth and leave vengeance to God… (Romans 12:19)
Remember God is never mocked, just as there is seed time, harvest is coming… they will reap all that they have sown (Galatians 6:7-9).
Let God introduce you to them, allow Him to address them, and prepare a table for you in their presence. Remember, not only will He reward you here on earth, but He will also reward you in heaven for this. Thank Him for your enemies, because they are the reason you will be rewarded here on earth and in heaven. Count it all joy!
In Christ’s love,
